Snip, Snip, Snip!

On my personal computer (Dell), I've used the Snipping Tool several times and it was so convenient! I am currently working on a lap top that was provided to me from the school where I teach. I was unable to find the Snipping Tool on this computer, which is an Hp. While searching the web, I came across another program like the Snipping Tool. This program is called "Snippy." I had never heard of this program before, but after doing some research, found that it is a no-installation program and only takes up 84 KB on your hard-drive. Once you download, Snippy resides in your task tray. Once you've found what you would like to copy/snip, simply click on the Snippy tool icon (scissors) to activate this tool and snip away! The only difference in the actually Snipping Tool and Snippy- Once activated, your cursor turns into a pen when using Snippy, instead of a selection box like the Snipping Tool. With both programs, whatever is selected, it is automatically copied to your Clipboard and ready to paste wherever.
I know a few people in the class were running into a little bit of trouble finding the Snipping Tool on their computer. When I saw this assignment, I thought to myself that it would be such an easy assignment. (I was very surprised when I couldn't find this tool looking myself and then running a search on the computer as well) This could be an alternative for the Snipping Tool. Like I had stated before, snipping has been very helpful through out my teaching career and snipped for personal use as well. A situation in the classroom where snipping could be involved and helpful- Students take a short quiz (the Milennial Quiz for example)..They could simply snip and share their results with me and/or others in the classroom! I love assignments that teach new something new, fun, and easy! Hopefully I informed those reading this post of new tool, too!

EDUC 6305 Introduction Voki

For an introductory activity to EDUC 6305 course, I created my very own Voki. To create your own is very easy! First, I started out typing an introduction of myself (85 words) in a Microsoft Word Document. Next, I went to the link provided below to create my very own Voki character. I copied and pasted my introduction text on the Voki website. Once I was finished making my character and adding my introduction text, I saved, and then linked to my blog and google docs! This is a very neat and technological way to have classes due introductions! 3. Model Digital Age Work and Learning Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. b. Collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation. This activity was an excellent way to use new age digital tools to communicate and collaborate with peers in the EDUC 6305 course. I plan on using this same activity for an introductory activity for my next year students. I can imagine the creativity and fun that students will have designing their very own character. CREATE YOUR OWN! :]
